Chucky Mullins #38 will forever be a legend at The University of Mississippi. Orphaned as a child and later adopted by his high school coach, he overcame life’s obstacles and went on to play football for Ole Miss. Sadly, Chucky lost his life due to an injury obtained during a football game.
Run Oxford along with UM Athletics have partnered with Palmer Home for Children to make The Great 38 the most meaningful and inspirational run in Mississippi. Participants will run either 3 or 8 miles through the beautiful award winning UM campus, down the Walk of Champions, and into Vaught Hemingway Football Stadium where they will see themselves on the new Jumbotron as they cross the 38 yard line finish!
All finishers will receive a long sleeve dri-fit shirt, and 8 milers will also receive a finisher’s medal.
The race benefits the Chucky Mullins Foundation which assists Ole Miss students who have a physical disability or demonstrate exceptional financial need. Along with registration runners can purchase discounted tickets to the Tailgate for Palmer Dinner held the evening after the race in the Field Level Club of Vaught Hemingway Stadium. Proceeds from the dinner benefit the children of Palmer Home.
Chucky’s words “Never Quit” hold special meaning for athletes and orphans alike. Join us in Oxford, Mississippi for the Inaugural Great 38!
